Sunday 30th March 2008-
We went on our annual pilgrimage to Rottnest Island today. We caught the ferry at 8.45am for our 45 minute journey & whilst on the boat decided on our snorkelling sites for the day. Once on the island we caught the hourly bus (no cars allowed on the island just the bus, service vehicles & bikes) and got off at 'Green Island', taking the short walk to 'Marys Cove'. We saw a fantastic array of fish here and had the whole beach to ourselves for almost the whole time! Whilst we were waiting for the bus to our next stop we saw a whole family of large brown lizards & they were so tame we ended up hand feeding them until the bus came! Next stop on the island was 'Little Armstrong Bay' which was a little busier but the snorkelling here was even better. We were pretty shattered by the end of the afternoon so recharged our batteries with a nice meal. A quokka (native marsupial, found only on Rottnest) kept us company whilst we were eating! After that it was time for a quick pint/ice cream before heading home on the ferry.
